Computational Imaging Engineer
Imec is one of the largest independent research centers in the domain of nanotechnology and –electronics with offices in Belgium, the Netherlands, Taiwan, US, China, Japan and India. Over 2080 people with more than 70 different nationalities collaborate to perform research that mainly focusses on the development of chips and systems for the future. These are mostly researchers but our staff also consists of engineers, operators and people in logistic supporting roles.
In collaboration with our world-wide industrial partners and leading research institutes imec builds on the applications that are years ahead of the industry in the domains of better healthcare, smart electronics, renewable energy and safer transport.
Imec’s non-visible imaging design center, based in Kissimmee, Florida, will develop key photonics enabling technologies and systems. It will contribute to societal improvements, such as better healthcare (by infrared endoscopy), safer transportation (by car based LiDAR
vision systems) and improved security (by high resolution THz imaging systems). Because our research bridges the gap between academic research and industrial technology development, imec collaborates closely with selected well-known academic groups and with industrial partners in the design center. One of the new directions is the development of affordable high performance wide bandwidth cameras for non-visible imaging
As Computational Imaging Engineer you will be responsible for the development and application of computational imaging techniques to enhance the functionality of the imaging systems that are designed in imec Florida. The major focus will be the co-optimization of hardware design, imaging software and component technology so as to realize cameras and optical systems with enhanced functionality and reduced size, weight and power.
- You have a Master/PhD degree or equivalent industrial experience, in Optics, Mathematics, Engineering physics or Computer Science/Information Theory.
- You have at least 4 years of experience in applied computational imaging.
- You have working knowledge of industrial grade computational software and imaging simulation tools and software.
- You possess strong problem solving and innovative thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
- Flexible team player, actively helping other team members, you see changes as an opportunity to learn and grow.
