System Engineer Thin Film Electronics

Imec’s Large Area Electronics department is developing electronics, in particular thin-film electronics, on flexible plastic substrates for integration into tomorrow’s flexible displays, imagers and biomedical applications. In this growing R&D activity, we are currently looking for a system engineer to support our display driver developments. You will actively participate in the design of display driver systems for flexible displays and in the coordination of hardware developments with external parties. For this challenging task, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person with good technical skills in system design with focus on firmware.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Translation of customer requirements into system requirements and system architecture.
- Selection of the necessary electronic components to complete the electronic modules.
- PCB design (timing and interconnectivity) and layout of prototype systems.
- Coordination of specific hardware developments with external parties.
- Development of digital electronic hardware as well as VHDL code. Debugging and validation of the design at hardware level.
- Lab measurements and prototype debugging.
- Project planning and follow up.
You have a Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in a similar function.
You have strong experience in system architecture design, analog and high speed digital hardware design. You have experience with measurements and interpretation of electrical signals on systems. You have extensive experience in FPGA programming. Having a good knowledge on signal integrity on high speed designs, Python and C/C++ is a plus.
You are results driven and flexible to meet stringent deadlines with quality output. You take initiative and work independently, while being part of a team. You are flexible to accept new challenges in the future, and to evolve together with the changing R&D demands of our high-tech environment.
