Image Sensor Hardware Engineer

Imec enjoys a world-class reputation in integrated circuit and system design and in technology development. Combining these skills, imec’s CMORE activities develop specialty high-speed image sensors using its own proprietary imaging wafer technology. These image sensors are applied into tomorrow’s biomedical, industrial and remote sensing imaging applications.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Translate requirements of the development teams into board and hardware requirements;
- Design PCBs & hardware for our sensors, probe cards, and optical test setups, working closely with our sensor design & test teams ;
- Coordinate and control our supply chain for manufacturing & assembly and for these board designs we decide to outsource;
- Test and repair incoming and existing boards independently;
- Be the single point of contact for all board development activities;
- Be responsible for the daily operations of the lab;
- Coordinate packaging activities of our image sensors;
- Assist in building hardware for bench, probe and optical setups.
Ideally you are highly motivated to do lots of hands-on PCB design and tinkering in the lab, but you are also great in coordinating and keeping a birds-eye perspective on our developments. Specifically, you have a Bachelor’s degree and more than 5 years of PCB design experience. Experience with probe cards and (very) high speed board design is a strong plus. Knowledge of the industry PCB and hardware supply chain is a strong plus. You have good knowledge on analog and mixed signal components and concepts (e.g. ADC, filtering, decoupling, bias voltage/current generation, …) and digital communication on PCB (e.g. matching, reflections, …). Experience with 3D modeling software and 3D printing are a plus. You have experience with development software such as Cadence Allegro, Altium, Solidworks, ... You are experienced with hands-on board assembly (soldering) and other hardware building. You are experienced with general lab equipment (scope, function generator, …). You are a good team player, able to pursue and find compromise. You have a natural desire to analyze and solve problems and you are self-critical. You are result-driven and focus on customer satisfaction. You are fluent in English.
