We are currently looking for a system engineer/architect with significant experience in optical and acoustic beam forming, lasers, transducers, microphones, hydrophones and NIR/visible detectors as well as ranging and spectroscopy techniques to join our life science and specialty components team.
The job will consist in leading system architecture definition/analysis activities in various application fields, e.g., LiDAR, SoDAR, MIR/Raman/photoacoustic spectroscopy. Therefore, a strong physics and electronics background is required as well as a flexible approach towards the application of this background in diverse and novel fields. As the main target application under investigation is life sciences, previous experience in a medical, clinical or biology context is a strong asset. Further, synthetic analytic skills are crucial along with very good scripting abilities.
Although this work may look very theoretical, a crucial aspect will be to bridge the gap between theory, simulations and practical, small form factor and real-time implementations. Indeed, we expect the system architect to be instrumental in the breadboard implementation of the systems he or she helps to define.
You have a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics (optics) with a strong background in system modeling. Experience with lidar/radar/sodar signal processing and classification is a definitive plus. You are proficient in scripting and programming (matlab, python, or other scripting languages). You are knowledgeable in most of the following areas: (Pulsed) laser/ultrasound systems, solid-state scanning laser/ultrasound systems, optical/acoustic beam steering systems (phased array transmission and reception), stochastic signal processing, system identification, Kalman filters, estimation techniques (Bayesian estimation, least-squares, spectral estimation, super-resolution algorithms), image processing, supervised and non-supervised classification, neural networks, deep learning. You are a self-starter and a hands-on person. You have excellent communication and reporting skills in English. You can easily integrate in a multidisciplinary team within a global context.
