Science for health presents: Peter Peumans

Science for health features several high-level keynote speakers. In addition to Carl June, a pioneer of CAR-T therapy, Peter Peumans from imec will share the power of chip technology. He heads the life sciences technology program at imec, a world leader in the R&D of nanoelectronics and digital technologies. Several imec projects have the potential to greatly impact cell therapy. With the first prototypes available, these disruptive technologies are ready to contribute to the success of innovative therapies like CAR-T.

In treatments where a single cell is enough to kill or cure you, a precise cell selection process is essential. Imec’s micro-chips make it possible to screen large numbers of cells, before and after engineering, to select the most potent ones. This will have the benefit of both lowering the required dose and reducing the weeks-long manufacturing process to mere days.

Get a sneak peek into how microchips can benefit cell therapy in the latest BioVox article, and join us on September 11 in Brussels to learn all about imec’s new tools.
