High Tech Agriculture


Building the High Tech Greenhouse of the Future 

Greenhouse agriculture is a worldwide growing trend. The Dutch – Flemish region ranks second in the world and is known for innovative and efficient methods for food production within controlled agricultural environments. Technological possibilities for better and efficient production of food are needed to improve the industry’s position. In the Grow! project smart crossovers of greenhouse technology and high-tech sensor systems are tested and implemented in large greenhouses to optimize the growth and quality of the crops.  

Research institutes and universities work together with partners from the agricultural industry to build and implement technology in existing state-of-the-art high tech greenhouses. Using the right sensor modules it is possible to detect diseases and abiotic stress levels in crops. The data is used to offer feedback and advise to enable quick preventative actions.
