How it guides our research

We want our technology to be a driver towards Industry 4.0 and even 5.0. Some examples:

• By developing sensors and wireless technologies for the Internet of Things, we help shape the digital transformation of our society.
• Through deterministic networking, we prepare mobile networks for the reliability and latency needs of flexible industrial environments.
• Our hyperspectral imaging cameras and sensors pave the way for novel applications in domains such as machine vision and remote sensing.
• Our AI roadmap focuses on edge AI – a key enabler for advanced IoT applications.

How it guides our local initiatives

Imec is an active partner in government initiatives that propel industrial innovation in Flanders. 

• We partake in joint initiatives with other Flemish centers of industrial expertise such as Flanders Make, Agoria, Sirris and Voka.
• The Flanders AI research program leverages the current AI knowledge and research to add value to the Flemish industry. 
• In the Industry 4.0 testing grounds, companies discover the technologies that enable them to transform the way they design, manufacture and market their products.
