What you will do

Join us to map the ultrafast quantum dynamics of photon induced ionization processes of photosensitive materials exposed with 13.5 nm (92 eV) photons during the photolithography process used to produce semiconductor devices. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative person to explore ultrafast Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV): soft x-ray) light dynamic interaction with photoactive materials, and to also explore advanced semiconductor materials such as topological insulators, spintronic and quantum device materials in time scales from sub-200 attoseconds to 200 picoseconds using high harmonic generated coherent laser sources.
The scientist will use the time-resolved spectroscopies: Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES), PhotoEmission Electron Microscopy (PEEM), Ultraviolet Photoemission Spectroscopy, X-Ray Photoemission Spectroscopy, EUV, and InfraRed to ascertain the photoionization pathways of photochemically active materials and then use this information to improve material imaging performance by comparing it to lithographic imaging of the resists using interference lithography.

AttoLab Scientist Position description: AttoLab is an ultrafast laser facility that probes the time-resolved physics and chemistry in range of approximately 100 attosecond to 200 picoseconds of materials, with emphasis on EUV resists, nano devices, photo-voltaic, power storage and photonic devices. 

The scientist develops and qualifies methods and apparatus, and ensures that the AttoLab’s beamlines, spectroscopy, imaging and lithography supports and meets the AttoLab’s research goals. This means collaborating with groups to design, assess, characterize, and execute scientific research of the laboratory while developing and conducting their own approved research.

Who you are

Expert in attosecond x-ray science with laser-lab experience:
  • Design experiments together with module teams. Estimates feasibility;
  • Lead execution of laser experiments;
  • High level on technical skills. Knows how to operate all modules in the AttoLab.
