Develop disruptive sensor technologies for Organ-on-Chip and Artificial Organs applications.
Imec at Holst Centre has established a world-leading track record on the
design of novel sensors for human health applications and ultra-low-power IoT
devices in general. For instance, our teams continue to develop innovations in
lifestyle- and environmental monitoring, accurate localization, and many other
fields. At our HQ in Leuven, Belgium we are world-renowned for pioneering new
process technologies in collaboration with industrial foundries and with the
broader semiconductor ecosystem. Imec’s research tracks enable unique
opportunities for end-to-end innovations.
The sensor team in Eindhoven takes the lead in new chemical and physical
sensor technologies that are disruptive in size, power consumption, selectivity,
and stability. These sensors are currently focused on IoT in areas like health,
the process industry, or in environmental applications. Your focus will be on a
new research area within the group. Specifically, your work is aimed at sensor
development for repeatable measurements of analytes in Organ-on-Chip
applications, as well as monitoring of biomarkers in human biological fluids,
ultimately for use in implantable artificial organs. You will work on the full
R&D lifecycle from research, development, characterization, and deployment
of new (bio)chemical sensor technologies for applications in these application domains.
We need you as a Biochemical Sensor Researcher to be part of our multidisciplinary team to:
We offer a challenging and international environment at the forefront of
technology, in an international network of renowned industrial customers. This
is your opportunity to help bring new technologies to the market that will have
an impact on tomorrow's society. You will join a team of disruptive innovators
and thinkers that work with both academia and industry to shape the future. You
will be in a dynamic environment where you can work together with top experts
in a wide variety of fields and have the opportunity to develop your personal
skills.
Imec The Netherlands, as an employer of choice, offers you an attractive
compensation and benefits package including a 100% employer-paid pension plan
and flexible working hours. Furthermore, imec-NL offers a wide range of
training possibilities. For international candidates, we provide support in the
relocation process.
A Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a similar relevant technical education.
2+ years of relevant working experience with a proven track record of performing state-of-the-art research on the development of biosensors. Preferably with hands-on experience working in a bio lab using enzymes, antibodies, or aptamers.
Structured way of working and experience with designing, executing, and planning experiments and the analysis of large datasets.
Hands-on mentality, which means you are eager to dedicate a significant fraction of your time to perform experimental work in a lab environment.
Proven can-do attitude, which means taking initiative, thinking proactively, having a flexible attitude, and problem-solving on a daily basis.
