Device Engineer Quantum Computing

What you will do

The Quantum Computing initiative is launched to address the technology challenges associated with the upcoming computing paradigm. The center of activities is located at the imec campus near Brussels and is expected to grow continuously over the next couple of years. 
This initiative aims to create a collaborative environment to build the technology needed for a functional programmable quantum computer. Imec is using its 300mm cleanroom and semiconductor technology know-how to build platforms for qubits and qubit arrays. 
You will work closely with our engineers and researchers to design and build spin and superconducting based q-bits with lab and fab processing. 

Your main responsibilities are 

  • conceiving and improving the design of spin and superconducting q-bits, 
  • providing an integration and a testing/verification strategy,
  • carrying out physical and electrical characterization in both lab and fab based environments,
  • guiding and supervising PhD students,

Who you are

We see your Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics, and your industrial or postdoc experience as key to be successful in this exciting role.
Besides that, we are looking for experienced device engineers in the field of quantum computing with extensive knowledge in q-bit and cryogenic electronic device design and characterization. As a member of the quantum computing team you will enable novel device concepts and designs to bring quantum computing closer to reality.
