Electroanalytical Chemist

What you will do

We need you as an Electroanalytical Chemist to be part of our interdisciplinary team to investigate sensing technologies which can be used for creating innovative solutions in health and food applications. Main projects to be part of are related to the electrochemical sensor development for an ingestible pill and food analysis.
In this start-up environment, you will work in a multidisciplinary team of electronic engineers, biomedical researchers, and data scientists, but you will also interact with customers and suppliers to align on planning, progress, and transfer of results. Furthermore, while you will start very hands-on in carrying out experiments, you will have the opportunity to gradually build up competences and technically lead projects.          

Your tasks will include:

  • Execution of OnePlanet’s electrochemical sensor research related to biosensors and miniaturized sensors in vitro as well as in vivo.
  • Develop and execute experimental trials based on identified sensor technologies.
  • Prepare reports regarding the results and outcomes of above-mentioned trials.
  • Real-life validation of prototypes outside the lab environment.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of leading technologies in electroanalytical chemistry.

Who you are

  • You are a recent PhD graduate or you hold an MSc degree with 2-3 years of experience in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • You have extensive experience in electroanalytical techniques including voltammetry, amperometry and potentiometry. A good understanding of impedance spectroscopy is a plus.
  • Experience in (bio)sensor development and biofunctionalization is highly appreciated.
  • Your communication skills in English (written and spoken) are excellent.
  • You are someone who enjoys working hands-on in the lab.
  • Taking initiatives, thinking pro-actively, having a flexible, curious and solving problem mindset are attributes which define yourself.
  • You can deal with ambiguity and you see changes as an opportunity to learn and grow.
  • You are a quick learner and interested in acquiring new skills and competences.
  • And last but not least, you have a strong affinity with the research domains of OnePlanet Research.
