What you will do

We are looking for an experimentalist with excellent technical skills in the field of microfluidics with knowledge of microfluidic set-ups and hands-on experience in microfluidic chip testing for life sciences application.
  • Design and perform experiments in the lab to test and characterize the physical and flow behaviour of microfluidics chips 
  • Develop, microfluidic lab set-ups and modify, operate and maintain optical, electrical or other lab set-ups to perform chip testing;
  • Analyse, interpret and report experimental data to the project team 
  • Facilitate chip layout editing under the supervision of senior chip designers
  • Work according to agreed customer timelines and report on progress internally and to customers
  • Manage time effectively according to aggressive project schedules
  • Quickly adapt to new project requirements 
  • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of engineers and biologists

Who you are

You have a master degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, applied physics or other equivalent discipline with relevant experience in microfluidic device testing. Experience in industry or life science applications (e.g. microfluidics device development in PhD program) is a plus.

  • You have hands-on experience with laboratory microfluidic setup construction and device testing.
  • You are eager to work in a laboratory environment.
  • You are familiar with (industrial) microfluidic products and existing device solutions.
  • You are familiar with software essential for instrumentation and data processing such as LabVIEW or Python.
  • It is essential that you have strong analytical skills and can perform data processing using analytical or computational tools.
  • Knowledge on physical principles in microfluidics such as fluidic dynamics, thermal conduction, electrostatics or acoustics is a strong asset.
  • Experience with cleanroom microfabrication (e.g. silicon fluidics devices) is a strong asset.
  • Experience with layout editing tools such as Cadence, L-edit, Klayout is a plus.
  • Experience with design or modelling software such as Solidworks, COMSOL etc. is a plus.
  • You have experience working in a research or development environment with an interdisciplinary team.
  • You are a team player.
  • You are fluent in English and have excellent communication skills.
