PhD researcher in AI for Signal Processing in Intelligent Systems (m/f/d)

This is a full (100%) position, with an initial engagement until 28.02.2022.

Introduction of research group:

The research group for which the vacancy is advertised is active in the field of audio, speech and general signal processing. Specifically we research and develop novel methods for signal detection, analysis and enhancement, sensor data fusion and condition monitoring, with appli-cations in the automotive, industrial and medical sectors.

What are your responsibilities?

  • The successful candidate will primarily focus on novel AI-based methods for acoustic speech signal improvement as well as suitable methods for signal analysis in real time. This research will be carried out in co-operation with regional industry partners and the Ghent University, Belgium (group of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Nilesh Madhu).
  • With an eye on the practical realisation of the algorithms, a proof-of-concept of developed approaches on product-specific hardware may be required.

  • High motivation and commitment to the research
  • Good organizational skills and the ability and willingness to work in a team
  • Willingness to work directly with industrial partners as well as national and international universities in the scope of an international research co-operation

What are the prerequisites for this position?

  • An excellent master's degree (or equivalent) in the field of information technology, communications engineering, computer science or related fields
  • Very good knowledge of (one or more of the following): signal processing, audio & speech processing and/or auditory perception
  • Practical experience in the field of audio/speech processing is a plus
  • Excellent spoken and written English. Knowledge of German is a plus
