Radio Signal Processing Engineer

In this role, you will be part of the wireless sensing team in imec Eindhoven. Your focus will be on the modelling of front-end transceivers (PHY layer) for wireless communication, localization, and radar sensing in collaboration with the Analog/Digital IC team. Besides, you will also work on technologies like UWB & Bluetooth, in this position, you have the opportunity to deliver high-quality results while pushing the boundaries of the state-of-the-art.

What you will do

We need you as a Radio Signal Processing Engineer to be part of our multidisciplinary team to:

  • Model the analog/digital front-end transceivers (PHY layer) for wireless communication and localization applications.
  • Work on the architecture, specifications, and design of radio sub-systems such as all-digital PLLs, receivers, transmitters, and digital front end.
  • Develop (novel) algorithms and solutions for wireless signal processing to compensate Analog RF non-idealities.
  • Participate in the test and validation of the designs in a lab- and realistic environment.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, such as system architects, analog/digital IC designers, and hardware and software developers, to understand and define system-level requirements
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for wireless systems - architecture development, specification, design, evaluation, and demonstration.
  • Stay up to date to relevant trends and research in the field and wireless standardization.
  • Interact with customers and (academic) partners as a technical interface for existing and new collaborations.

Who you are

  • MSc or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with modeling analog/ digital front-end transceivers.
  • Strong knowledge of signal theory e.g., noise shaping, statistics, phase noise, jitter, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in the state-of-the-art in (ULP) wireless communication, localization, radar architectures, and wireless standards such as Bluetooth, UWB, and WiFi.
  • Experience with modeling in Python (preferred), myHDL, C, and MATLAB.
  • Team player with good communication skills and the ability to give quality feedback.
  • A hands-on and exploratory attitude, which means taking initiative, thinking pro-actively, having a flexible approach, and solving problems daily are attributes that define yourself.
  • Your communication skills in English are excellent.
