IDLab is a core research group of imec with research activities embedded in Ghent University and University of Antwerp. IDLab performs applied research and development of high speed and densely deployed wireless Internet technologies and data science. IDLab’s research areas cover machine learning and data mining; semantic intelligence; distributed intelligence for IoT; cloud and big data infrastructures; multimedia coding and delivery; wireless and fixed networking; electromagnetics, RF and high-speed circuits and systems. The IDLab team counts about 300 members (40 professors, 50 post docs, 200 researchers, 15 support staff members.
Within the context of national and international data analysis research projects conducted in the IDLab research group (http://www.ugent.be/ea/idlab/), you will apply advanced machine learning techniques on various types of data, with a special focus on predictive maintenance and condition monitoring of industrial machines. You will cooperate with enthusiastic colleagues and diverse external partners to fulfil the project requirements while staying up to date with important changes in the related literature. Projects will allow you to collaborate with researchers and developers from Europe and beyond. You will also be given the opportunity to work on new machine learning technologies that will facilitate predictive modeling, anomaly/fault detection and according root cause analysis. Since inferring logical consequences from the available data has an important role in enriching the predictive models, an interest in semantic reasoning is a plus.
- You have a degree in Master of Science/Engineering, preferably in Computer Science, Electronics-ICT or (Mathematical) Informatics.
- You speak and write English fluently.
- You have an open mind and a multi-disciplinary attitude.
- You have good decision, communication and analytical skills.
- You are proficient in programming languages (especially Python).
- You have a strong interest in machine learning, signal processing, and/or semantic reasoning.
- The following skills/ interests are a plus: experience with analysis of time series data, experience with visual/audio/sensor data analysis, experience with machine learning, experience with semantic reasoning, or experience with related technologies.
