OnePlanet Research Center is a multidisciplinary collaboration between Wageningen University & Research (WUR), Radboud University, Radboudumc and imec. What you will do

The objective of this project is to implement a non-contact probing feature in the smart toilet to determine stool sample content. In parallel to this project, a smart ingestible pill, able to measure intestinal function, is being developed. This project is focus on the development of a non-contact probing mechanism to retrieve the pill from a stool sample, and to test is in the laboratory using an imitation stool sample.

  • Realize a setup for (non-contact) probing of imitation feces.
  • Performing reference measurements.
  • Performing measurements on imitation feces content with water as a medium.
  • Extended task: Implement the prototype in smart toilet. 

At the OnePlanet Research Center, you will be working with the Ingestibles team in a new lab in Wageningen equipped with state-of-the-art technology. 

Who you are

  • You are a MSc student in Applied Industrial Design, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • You are available for a period of 9-12 months.
  • Affinity for hands-on approach.
  • Creativity in finding new designs and solutions.
  • Experience with CAD software/SolidWorks is an advantage.
  • Entitled to do an internship in the Netherlands.
  • Motivated student eager to work independently and expand knowledge in the field.
  • Good written and verbal English skills.
