Imec is developing a nanowire based battery architecture that can be built on large area foils with only low cost wet processing techniques. These batteries are intended for flexible electronics and wearables.
In this battery concept, imec is combining the best of the thin-film electrode and nanocomposite electrolyte know-how to build a Nano battery on nanowire scaffolds.
We have demonstrated nanowire scaffolds with large effective surface area and coated with thin-film electrodes for high capacity and high rate performance.
