Lidar Intern, Spring 2019

What you will do

Imec, USA is looking for a graduate level lidar intern to assist in the design, testing and characterization of lidars, and semiconductor devices for application in solid state lidars. The position is available  January - August 2019.

  • Development and characterization of a lidar prototype in the laboratory.
  • Design, setup and improve laboratory experiments for characterizing solid-state beam scanning devices/chips.
  • Assist in developing an electrical control/driving system for characterizing and operating solid state devices/chips.
  • Participate in brain storming sessions, and computer simulations to confirm the validity of new ideas related to hardware design, imaging algorithms, data acquisition, and other optical imaging systems.

What we do for you

Recently, lidar systems have been receiving a lot of attention due to their wide spectrum of applications, including autonomous vehicles, mapping, sensing, security, etc. In the future, lidars are expected to get smaller, cheaper, better due to newer semiconductor technologies and components such as diode lasers, detectors, scanners, filters, and on chip-data processing. Imec has developed a state of the art technology in its CMOS-fab that enables the fabrication of integrated photonic chips on a large scale in a cost-effective way, and we have a unique approach of developing lidar. We offer you a challenging position in an advanced high-tech research environment, in an international team. This is your opportunity to contribute to technologies that will have an impact on tomorrow’s society.

In exchange for your talent, passion and expertise, you will join an ambitious organization, with challenges there for the taking.
