What you will do

IMEC Derivative Technologies department offers companies to develop and fabricate customized specialty microsystems that cannot be produced in standard CMOS technology. To achieve this, we have created platforms for processing of various CMOS imagers – hyperspectral, backside illuminated, embedded CCD-in-CMOS, MEMS & NEMS, photonics, and microfluidics chips. We have the freedom to tune our technology to the very specific demands of the partners and develop the technology flow for both prototypes and low-volume production.
IMEC’s Pixel Technology Explore group aims to create innovative imager technologies and concepts for diverse fields and applications. In order to develop and prototype highly scaled pixels for state-of-the-art image sensors, Pixel Devices team is looking for a highly motivated Pixel Designer. 
Your role will be to: 
  • Define innovative device architectures and process conditions using TCAD simulations together with Process Integration;
  • Design state-of-the-art pixels according to internal or external specifications;
  • Define test structures to assess device performance;
  • Interpret electrical and optical measurement data and providing feedbacks to Process Integration;
  • Report project status to management and partners.

Who you are

We appreciate your PhD degree, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar role and preferably in an industrial environment. We value your deep knowledge in Device physics and experience in TCAD Simulations and Semiconductor Technology. Your strong organization & planning skills are a huge added value to us. Your ability to communicate complex problems in a manner that also non-experts can understand, is a plus. Since you will be working in a highly international environment and will be maintaining a good contact with colleagues and partners, fluency in English is essential.
