AutoSens – "By engineers, for engineers"

Imec

Talk by Ben Stoffelen, Department Manager AI on Bridging the Gap: AI-Driven Simulations for Level 5 Autonomous Driving and Next-Gen Sensor Validation

At imec we research next-generation sensor technology needed to overcome bottlenecks for level 5 autonomous driving. But there is a gap between existing physics-based simulation tools and the succesful deployment of next-gen sensors. Imec’s Sensai program uses AI to bridge this gap through a digital twin of the automotive perception stack designed to mitigate risks associated with next-gen sensor technology.

In this talk we will discuss what AI-based simulations can offer the realism and trustworthiness required to serve as an intermediate step between physics-based simulations and field testing with real prototypes. How environments with novel sensor will look like and how genAI driven sensor models can influence the E/E architectures of future cars.
