Automotive Computing Conference

November 13 - 14, 2025 | Munich, Germany

Explore the transformation of classic vehicles into modern, software-defined vehicles and IoT devices.

imec

Imec's Bart Placklé, VP of Automotive, will give a presentation on  Chiplets,  the fabric of Automotive High Performance compute

Chiplets are already used in high-performance computing, servers and consumer devices. As cars are becoming more autonomous, the compute performance for perception, planning and in cabin entertainment are growing beyond what classical monolithic System on Chips can cost effectively offer. Disaggregating the full compute solution into Chiplets offers a flexible, scalable and cost-effective way to build such new high performance platforms.  However, the higher quality and reliability (QnR) requirements in the automotive industry elevate complexity and necessitate novel solutions from the architecture down to the level of materials. Furthermore, an open automotive chiplet ecosystem with a high level of interface standardization and agreed-upon architecture blueprints across the industry is imperative to ensure interoperability, compatibility, and scalability – resulting in more flexibility regarding chip architectures and a reduced time-to-market for OEMs. Imec plays a leading role in this standardization effort by bringing together leading players from the automotive ecosystem in the Automotive Chiplet Forum. At the same time, the automotive chiplet program aims at accelerating and derisking chiplet adoption for contributing partners through pre-competitive research that leverages imec’s infrastructure and expertise.

Next to this talk, Bart will be part of the panel on the chiplet market – future challenges

About

We are excited to explore the transformation of classic vehicles into modern, software-defined vehicles and IoT devices. As the automotive industry evolves, the vehicles of the future demand top-notch computing performance, powerful control units, and adherence to increasingly stringent standards. We face various challenges such as security, functional safety, cloud connectivity, and the growing complexity of vehicle design.

At ACC, we aim to revolutionize traditional approaches and align them with the needs of the automotive industry. Our esteemed speakers will delve into the world of automotive high-performance computing, covering a wide range of aspects.
