Making application-specific ICs for space applications

October 14, 2021 | 5pm CEST, Webinar

With the acceleration of innovation in space transportation, the cost to operate a satellite in orbit has tremendously decreased, opening doors to a new industry.

While satellites previously used the geostationary orbit, they now reside in mega constellations at low earth altitude. This makes the design constraints against radiation effects less stringent, but microelectronic components should still survive in harsh environments.

So what’s your best choice: non-hardened COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf) or custom-made radiation-hardened components such as ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits)?

We’ll explain how imec.IC-link's expertise can help you to make such choices and how to become a successful player in the space ecosystem.
