Future societal and macroeconomic advancements increasingly rely on deep tech innovation, nanotechnology, and AI capabilities powered by breakthroughs in semiconductor technology such as: transistor scaling to Angstrom, 3D stacking, hybrid bonding, new memory solutions, novel compute architectures, photonic IC’s, quantum computing, quantum sensing, connectivity technologies, GaN are among many other imec R&D innovations. 
Imec’s impact in these domains is growing steadily through the setup of new partnerships with various industry players. This represents a significant growth of number of business interactions, contract proposals and contract negotiations in general. To sustain this growth trajectory, we are seeking a Business Enablement Director.

What you will do

The Business Enablement Director is tasked with developing the processes and systems that help the business enablement teams (BET) to monitor progress on the proposals and contract negotiation phases. These BETs have been setup in a cross-functional team model and are already functional but require more follow-up through the setup of processes and systems to allow their business leads to monitor progress. 

As a Business Enablement Director, you are accountable for the well-functioning of the BETs through adoption of the right processes, systems and roles within the business organization combined with the setup of the right interfaces with the other imec internal stakeholders (outside of the business organization).

On top, driving cross-learning over different business teams, clarity on roles through practice, alignment on intake processes across different Sectors within imec, alignment with IP & Venturing teams are part of the processes to be setup. 

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Setup new process & systems (or update existing) to enable closer follow-up on progress of negotiations:
    • Weekly update reporting on major opportunity movements (scope: from proposals to contracts)
    • Meeting minutes through CRM (scope: from first interactions to contract signature)
  • Monitor functioning of the cross-functional BET + propose changes & implement for improvement:
    • Coach & drive the Business Leads towards cross business team learnings, best practices
    • Monitor the functioning of the BETs by
      • Building clarity on roles through practice
      • Monitor the functioning of the Intake process (BT meetings, gates)
    • Define & Manage KPIs for process execution & compliance across all BETS
  • Continuously work on quality improvement of the proposals & concept notes (terms)
  • Drive Follow-up and monitor roll-out of compliance of the BET teams to the Miller Heiman methodology
  • Build process & system for overall customer satisfaction monitoring, including account reviews.

Who you are

  • A master’s degree in technology, engineering, or related fields, along with strong business acumen and a passion for technology innovation, is required.  A PhD is not necessary for this position. 
  • We are seeking an individual with over 15 years of experience in business operations & enablement 
  • The candidate should be comfortable with a cross-functional team setup with multi-stakeholder interactions 
  • Familiarity with the Miller Heimann methodology and tools is beneficial. 
  • The ideal candidate will be someone who genuinely enjoys building stakeholder interactions, with a focus on driving impact through the right processes & systems within an organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership in deep tech innovation in one or more industries is highly valued. 
  • The candidate should have a thorough understanding of multi-stakeholder engagements, cross-functional teams within larger companies and how-to drive adoption/compliance in a complex environment. 
  • You have strong organizational, planning, verbal, written communication, and analytical skills. You are a team player with a can-do attitude. 
  • You excel in presentations and interpersonal skills.
