ICT Solution architect Data science & AI workbench
What you will do
You will contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the data science and AI platforms provided by ICT to imec. Working alongside our Enterprise Data Architect, you will support the evolution of these platforms to meet imec’s research and business needs. In this role, you understand the relevant technologies, evaluate new solutions where appropriate, define how platform components interact, and collaborate closely with engineering teams to realise and extend the platform capabilities.
Your key areas of focus will include:
- Notebook environments for data analysis: Support a robust notebook-based analysis platform that enables researchers to securely access data, start projects from templates, share work, and use a curated set of libraries and packages.
- AI platform and best practices: Contribute to the development and maintenance of an AI platform enabling model creation, training, management, and deployment.
Facilitate secure data access for training and support integration of inference capabilities (e.g., APIs) into operational workflows. - Agentic AI platform and guidelines: Empower imec teams to develop their own chatbots and intelligent agents, unlocking organisational knowledge in a secure manner and automating processes where feasible. The goal is also to implement standardised MCP interfaces, making data and services readily available to chatbots and enhancing access throughout the organisation.
- Platform Adoption & Governance
- Self-service by both professional and citizen developers is central to our strategy. In line with data mesh principles, ICT provides platforms and practices, while business teams own their data products. You will contribute to:
- Technology selection and solution architecture for the platforms.
- Guidelines, best practices, and documentation.
- Community building and end‑user support to drive platform adoption.
- Roadmap development to ensure platforms remain fit-for-purpose.
Collaboration approach: As Solution Architect, you will bridge business needs and technological capabilities. You will:
- Work closely with imec teams and their management to understand use cases.
- Collaborate with ICT technical teams and external partners to understand and apply the right technologies.
- Translate both perspectives into effective, scalable solutions that address imec’s business and research challenges.
