We are seeking an Innovation Development Manager to help us shaping and managing our R&D expertise domain roadmaps, while collaborating closely with the exploratory materials and device leadership team as well as our business and technology office teams.

What you will do

Imec is at the forefront of developing novel processes, materials, and devices that enable groundbreaking applications across diverse market segments.

To further strengthen our innovation portfolio, we are seeking an Innovation Development Manager.

In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping and managing our R&D expertise domain roadmaps, while collaborating closely with the exploratory materials and device leadership team as well as our business and technology office teams.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Supporting the LEAN Scientific Leadership Team towards planning, executing and following-up of the scientific excellence goals and towards building innovation strategy.
  • Maintaining the overview of the roadmaps of the different LEAN R&D expertise domains together with the expertise domain managers and scientific directors.
  • Streamlining and facilitating communication with the sector technology offices and CTO office, including alignment on R&D expertise domain roadmap and innovation opportunities. 
  • Proactively building and managing strong relationships with the technical teams, the scientific leadership and the business teams to generate support for innovative research projects.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive overview of the innovation pipeline, following up on innovation and investment projects, escalate issues and facilitate next steps.
  • Maximizing the integration of our academic partner’s innovations within the expertise domain roadmaps and sector strategies to strengthen impact and alignment.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to streamline innovation processes and enhance collaboration efficiency.

Who you are

You are a self-motivated engineer or scientist who thrives on building connections to enable innovation. You seize opportunities, embrace challenges, and enjoy working in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. with 5-10 years of broad experience deep-tech innovation in Engineering, Sciences, Bioengineering, Materials, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in innovation management, or research coordination.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor technologies, advanced materials, nanofabrication, applications in health or energy and related laboratory environments.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Capability to handle multiple diverse technical subjects, including those outside your core expertise.

  • High level of initiative and ownership, performing effectively under pressure. 
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving ability.

  • Given the international character of imec, proficiency in English is mandatory.
