Master internship - Leuven | Just now
In this internship, you will contribute to the design of next-generation integrated UV photonic devices based on imec's low-loss Aluminium Oxide waveguide technology. The main focus will be on the simulation, design, and layout of integrated spectrometers and frequency-selective filters for fluorescence detection systems operating in the UV and blue wavelength range. Target will be to include 2 types of structures - coarse sensitivity with broad range, and fine sensitivity with narrower range.
You will use state-of-the-art photonic design tools to develop components such as arrayed waveguide gratings, echelle gratings, ring resonators, and other spectral filtering architectures. The work includes optical simulations, performance optimization, mask layout generation, and design-for-fabrication considerations. Depending on the progress, you may also get the chance participate in the analysis of fabricated devices and compare experimental results with your designs.
