Learning & Capability Development Specialist 

At imec, breakthrough innovation depends on exceptional expertise and cross-domain collaboration. As a Learning & Capability Development Specialist, you help ensure that expertise is shared, developed and scaled across the organization. 

You partner with scientists, engineers, managers and HR colleagues to understand business and capability challenges and to create the right conditions for impactful learning solutions. 

This is not a traditional training role. We are looking for someone who can help us shape the next generation of imec.academy. Strengthening our capacity to create scalable learning solutions that are more personalized, digital, mobile and embedded in the flow of work.  

What you will do

Shape imec’s learning ecosystem 

Imec is growing rapidly. We want imec.academy to actively build a learning ecosystem that can support our growing global research and innovation organization. You will help us shape this ecosystem where decentral academies, learning communities and topic owners support learning effectively in close collaboration with the central imec.academy.

You will: 

• Develop learning governance, frameworks and quality standards. 
• Clarify roles and ownership across academies, communities and experts. 
• Facilitate stakeholder alignment and decision-making. 
• Help prioritize learning initiatives that matter most. 
• Ensure learning remains relevant, accessible and up to date. 

Reimagine how people learn at imec 

Learning is changing rapidly. We want imec.academy to not only follow that evolution, but to lead how people learn effectively. You will therefore support imec to experience new and more effective ways of learning. However, you will not own learning at imec. It will therefore be quintessential that you enable and support other learning agents in the organization. 

You will: 

• Assess the current learning experience and identify opportunities to make learning support easier to find, to access and to apply. 
• Explore and experiment with new learning formats such as microlearning, learning in the flow of work, peer learning, communities, short-form video, cohort-based learning, simulations and AI-enabled learning. 
• Bring a mobile-first and user-experience mindset to how employees discover and consume learning. 
• Explore how AI, personalization and intelligent recommendations can improve the learning experience. 
• Prototype new learning concepts and test them quickly with learners before scaling them. 
• Look beyond courses and classrooms and explore how knowledge, communities, experts and digital experiences can become part of the learning ecosystem. 
• Follow developments in learning technology and translate relevant innovations into practical experiments at imec. 
• Challenge existing approaches constructively: not everything we do today needs to remain the way it is. 

You will enable learning other agents at imec to: 

• Analyse capability needs and identify to what extent learning will make the key difference. 
• Transform technical knowledge into engaging learning experiences. 
• Select new, but above all appropriate, learning methodologies and formats. 
• Measure learning effectiveness and business impact.

Who you are

You combine strategic thinking with a hands-on mindset and enjoy bringing clarity to complex challenges. 

You bring: 

• Experience in Learning & Capability Development. 
• Strong expertise in learning needs analysis and instructional/learning design. 
• The ability to connect people across organizational boundaries and support them to have impact together. 
• Excellent communication, influence and facilitation skills. 
• Experience operating in complex, international environments. 
• The openness and drive to learn from feedback. 
• You think from the learner's perspective and have a strong affinity with digital product thinking, UX and mobile-first experiences. 
• Professional fluency in English. 
• Experience with Cornerstone and Easygenerator is a plus. 
• Affinity with the world of engineering and integrated circuits, microelectronics or the semiconductor industry is a plus.
