Multispectral super-resolution for mosaic sensors

Master internship - Leuven | Just now

Explore innovative methods to reconstruct high‑fidelity, super-resolution images from imec’s spectral sensors.
Imec is internationally recognized as a pioneer in hyperspectral imaging, developing cutting edge on chip spectral imaging sensors that have the potential to replace large, expensive laboratory scale camera systems. These sensors operate using a unique design: every pixel contains a different spectral filter. When arranged in mosaics—such as a 4×4 pattern—the system can capture 16 distinct spectral bands simultaneously. Current processing pipelines can reconstruct highly accurate spectral images, but this comes at the cost of spatial resolution.

During this 5 week internship, you will explore innovative methods to generate super resolution hyperspectral images. Your main objectives will be:
• Build a dataset containing relevant and diverse test scenes
• Investigate and compare various super resolution algorithms
• Evaluate how well each method preserves both spectral fidelity and spatial detail

If successful, your work will directly contribute to an upgrade of imec’s acquisition software, used by over 300 customers worldwide. This internship offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the next generation of hyperspectral imaging technology.
