Seeing Beyond the Limits: Unveiling the Hidden Nano World with Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM)

This bachelor thesis aims to optimize the manual TEM lamella preparation process with the goal of reducing processing time while preserving lamella quality. The study will systematically review the manual TEM preparation workflow steps such as cap layer deposition with e-beam and ion beam, chunk milling and chunk transfer to copper grids. Experimental optimization will be conducted on a Helios-450 dual beam system and then implemented on a 300 mm wafer capable Helios-1200 dual beam system. The student will get exposed to highly advanced TEM sample preparation methods which is a necessity for high quality TEM imaging
