As Privacy Specialist, you will join imec's Privacy Compliance Office. The team develops, implements, and manages imec's privacy, AI, and healthcare compliance programs, monitors relevant regulatory developments, and translates them into practical advice and support for research projects and departments across the organisation.

What you will do

Your responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and helping maintain imec's privacy compliance program.
  • Reviewing and improving procedures, processes, and controls related to privacy compliance.
  • Providing practical privacy advice to research projects and business teams.
  • Supporting DPIAs (Data Protection Impact Assessments) and privacy-by-design initiatives.
  • Identifying opportunities to further strengthen imec's privacy maturity and translating these into actionable initiatives.
  • Following privacy-related regulatory developments and emerging trends and integrating them into imec's privacy framework.
  • Helping create and maintain a strong privacy awareness culture throughout the organisation.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across research, operations, and support functions to build a sustainable and effective privacy program.
  • Supporting AI compliance topics where relevant, while maintaining privacy as the primary focus area.

Who you are

We are looking for a pragmatic, proactive professional who combines strong privacy expertise with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions.
You bring:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in privacy and data protection, including solid experience with GDPR.
  • Hands-on experience with DPIAs, privacy-by-design assessments, and practical privacy advisory work.
  • The ability to balance compliance requirements with business and research objectives.
  • A structured, accurate, and solution-oriented way of working.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex compliance concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to build trusted relationships across the organisation.
  • Integrity, diplomacy, and the confidence to influence and convince stakeholders.
  • Curiosity and interest in new technologies and regulatory developments.
  • We value experience, mindset, and personality above formal qualifications.

In addition:

  • Knowledge of AI compliance, AI governance, or emerging AI regulations is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in a research, innovation, healthcare, or technology-driven environment is a plus.
  • A specific university degree is not a strict requirement. Relevant experience, professional maturity, and personal fit are more important than formal qualifications.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English.
