R&D Team Leader Metrology Engineering

We are seeking a motivated Metrology Engineering Team Lead to join the most advanced semiconductor research facility in the world. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers focused on developing, optimizing, and sustaining state-of-the-art metrology tools and processes that enable next-generation semiconductor technologies. You will guide your team through complex technical challenges, drive innovation in measurement strategies, and ensure seamless collaboration across the fab.

What you will do 

  • Provide guidance and support to a team of both junior and experienced engineers responsible for the metrology tools and processes within a fast-paced work environment. 
  • Ensure team spirit and personal development of the team by coaching & training on skills and competencies. 
  • You will act as a key liaison, working with internal stakeholders, external customers, and field service engineers. 
  • Supported by the team and coordinator, you are responsible for the day-to-day performance and coverage of the metrology engineering area as well as meeting the agreed KPIs and launching initiatives to improve our efficiency. 
  • Together with the team, you lead, implement and systematically follow-up on longer term projects, such as customer projects, funded projects, tool installs, and internal improvement projects.  
  • You ensure high-quality data analysis, reporting, and technical documentation. 
  • You stay abreast of new scientific developments within your area, you contribute to roadmaps and capacity planning, and you collaborate with your peers to prepare the team and the fab for future challenges.

Who you are 

  • You have a Master/PhD in Applied Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Material Engineering or Electrical engineering or equivalent through experience, with at least 5-year work experience in the semiconductor industry and preferably more than 3 years in a people management role.  
  • You have a strong technical background in (or with a strong link to) in-line process metrology, such as ellipsometry, X-ray based metrology, electrical/magnetic thin film metrology, AFM, etc., with preferably demonstrated hands-on experience.  
  • You have a good understanding of the key challenges in semiconductor technology, while also understanding the fast paced nature of a semiconductor FAB.  
  • You are a team player and flexible in accommodating changing priorities to support business needs. 
  • You have self-drive and are willing to take ownership. 
  • You have outstanding English communication skills to work successfully in an international dynamic team environment.
