Researcher for electrochemical fabrication of nanostructured materials

What you will do

In this fixed-term researcher position you will:

  • Investigate the fundamental limits and process–structure relationships of anodization and electrodeposition for template assisted fabrication of nanostructured materials.
  • Own project deliverables and milestones in publicly funded and internal R&D projects, from experimental planning to reporting.
  • Build expertise within the research group, translate insights across applications, and contribute to publications, patents, and partner interactions.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. We are aware that your valuable contribution makes imec a top player in its field. Your energy and commitment are therefore appreciated by means of a market appropriate salary with many fringe benefits.

Who you are

  • You hold a PhD in chemistry, materials science, physics, or a related field, or a Master’s degree combined with at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • You have hands‑on experience in electrochemistry; experience with anodization and/or electrodeposition is a strong plus.
  • You combine strong fundamentals (electrochemistry, mass transport, kinetics) with a pragmatic experimental mindset.
  • You can drive a topic end‑to‑end and collaborate effectively to ensure milestones and deliverables are met.
  • You communicate clearly (written and spoken) and can present results to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • You take initiative and work independently, while being part of a team.
