ASIC IP Portfolio Manager – IC-Link by imec
What you will do
In this job, you will be responsible to define and help realize IC-Link by imec sector strategy towards maximum impact for a portfolio of technologies and solutions applicable to IC-Link’s ASIC business specifically for design IP offerings. This portfolio pushes the boundaries of a wide range of design IP concepts to be used in ASIC / SoC architectures that use mainstream as well as the state-of-the-art advanced CMOS technology nodes.

The role spans the journey from market analysis, roadmap definition, business plan creation to its realization by managing the selected investments.
In this job, your main responsibilities will be:
- Shape IC-Link’s offering for IP portfolio and roadmap in close collaboration with imec’s management, research groups, technical teams and your colleagues in the business development and field teams:
- Create a good understanding of the needs for potential users of the technology.
- Identify, assess, and synthesize market trends and gaps relevant towards imec’s roadmap and offering design IP definitions in ASIC/SoC business.
- Define the technical roadmap for ASIC IP in function of the market trends, market gaps and perceived opportunities
- Articulate USPs of IC-Link’s IP portfolio from an application perspective and how they fit in potential customers’ value chains.
- Analyze competitive and intellectual property landscapes.
- Assess financial impact and potential of proposed investments to support go/no-go decisions and prioritization.
- Validate the above and empathize with imec partners’ needs through effective Voice-of-Customer insight collection.
- Define and manage the tasks towards new assets in the portfolio by taking up the business lead role for them:
- Develop, monitor and update the strategic vision and business case behind the investment decision.
- Derive specifications and plans coherent with the stated product-market fit and market timing.
- Monitor execution and market risks and help manage potential barriers such as IP situation and regulatory approvals
- Set release-to-market conditions and lead hand-over towards field and business development teams.
- Support the commercial phase for collaborations within the portfolio:
- Make portfolio offering and business case adjustments based on market feedback
- Work with the Marketing & Communication team to create the marketing collateral to promote IC-Link’s ASIC IPs

Who you are
- You hold a scientific degree (IC design engineering, physics or information technology...) & and have a solid business background either through experience or an MBA degree.
- You have at least 5 years experience in IP business, product marketing, strategy setting, business development or a similar role in a high-tech environment and you are able to quickly develop a deep understanding on how to translate a customer problem into a solution.
- You are multi-disciplinary, highly collaborative, passionate about technology and have entrepreneurial drive to create impact. Especially expertise in the phases of ASIC development, design IP development and knowledge in foundry business.
- You have strong awareness about the design IP ecosystem and have a network around it.
- You have a familiarity with industry standards and protocols (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, UCIe, chiplets) as well as SoC architecture development.
- You are an analytical, strategic and inspirational multi-tasker yet decisive and able to set priorities when the facts are in.
- You are comfortable doing technical deep dives together with the technical teams or to refine market needs.
- You have excellent communication skills (English) and ability to influence stakeholders (internal and external).
- The position can be taken up from either imec Belgian HQ (Leuven) or San Jose California (US).
