Automation of a flat-optics characterization setup

Bachelor internship - Leuven | Just now

Developing smart instrumentation for flat-optics experiments

The internship will focus on automating key functions of a flat-optics measurement platform to improve reproducibility, efficiency, and ease of use. The candidate will contribute to the hardware integration, software control, and user-interface development required for advanced optical characterization.

Main tasks

  • Build and integrate a motorized multi-axis control system for angle-resolved measurements

  • Integrate spectrophotometry hardware into the setup

  • Implement motorized polarization-control elements, including waveplates and rotators

  • Interface motion controllers, light sources, detectors, and auxiliary sensors

  • Write data-acquisition and calibration routines

  • Develop a Python-based graphical user interface for system control and measurements

Expected outcome
By the end of the internship, the setup should support automated and user-friendly operation for angle-resolved and polarization-resolved flat-optics measurements.
