Chip Manufacturing Team Leader 

What you will do

We are eager to welcome new team members to step into this magnificent world and get familiar with the processes of manufacturing chips.

Imec IC-link (https://www.imec-int.com/en/ic-link) helps customers design chips and bring them to the prototype and the mass production stage at top chip foundries. Imec is a qualified TSMC Value Chain Alliance partner and offers state-of-the-art prototype and volume fabrication services to fabless companies and system houses. Imec IC-link provides its customers with specialized technical solutions for the design prototyping, and mass production of chips. 
 
As a chip manufacturing team leader based in the US, you will lead a fresh team of engineers who will serve as the key liaison between world-class chip foundries and our local customers. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that your team provides top-notch, customer-focused support to startups, SMEs, universities, and system houses throughout their tape-out process. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Provide technical guidance to our local customers on design rules, libraries, and wafer manufacturing processes.  

  • Check and guarantee the quality of chips designed by our customers, based on documentation provided by manufacturing plants, and knowledge gained from the team and past projects. 

  • Prepare chip designs for fabrication at foundries. 

  • Helping customers with final sign-off using advanced CAD software programs.  

  • Assist our sales team in technical discussions with customers. 

  • Follow up on projects from start to finish and ensuring all project milestones are met. 

  • Oversee all aspects of personnel management as a Team Leader, ensuring the effective management of the team's human resources. 

  • Facilitate collaboration within your team and with other imec.IC-link teams. 

  • Leverage your expertise to enhance the overall customer experience. 

  • Ensure your team is sufficiently trained to provide quality customer support.

Who you are 

 

  • We are seeking candidates with a Master’s degree or higher in Electrical or Electronic Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. 

  • The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and guide team members in handling complex technical questions in a customer-centric manner. 

  • Key competencies for this role include taking initiative, being client-oriented, punctuality, teamwork, and drive. Strong communication skills are essential, with fluency in spoken and written English to support our US customers. The ability to adequately judge problem situations, recognize priorities, and act flexibly is also important. 

  • Candidates should have a good knowledge of foundry technologies and an understanding of chip fabrication processes. 

  • A proactive approach to customer support, excellent communication skills, and a penchant for taking initiative are also highly valued.
