We are seeking a dynamic Communications Specialist who will play a pivotal role in establishing and elevating imec’s brand awareness among key local stakeholders in Spain. Your primary mission will be to drive imec’s visibility and reputation within the semiconductor and deeptech ecosystem, attract and engage future employees, and foster strong relationships with policy makers. As an all-round communications expert, you will leverage both strategic vision and hands-on execution across corporate communications, employer branding, and media relations. From shaping our messaging and orchestrating impactful campaigns, to building imec’s presence from the ground up, you will be instrumental in positioning imec as a leading force in innovation and technology for the region’s talent, industry, and government. What you will do
You will play a crucial role in establishing imec’s local identity, visibility, and credibility among key audiences, including government stakeholders, industry partners, academic institutions, the wider public, and future employees. You will closely collaborate with the various communications teams at imec HQ in Leuven, Belgium, and report to the corporate & outreach communication manager. Your work location will be in Malaga, with a one-to-two-week training provided in Leuven, Belgium.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for imec Spain, aligned with global corporate communications strategy and branding guidelines.
- Build imec’s reputation in a new market, ensuring consistent messaging and strong brand positioning.
- Create and execute employer branding initiatives aimed at attracting future employees.
- Manage stakeholder communications, including government, industry associations, academia, media and the broad public.
- Create and manage communication materials and campaigns.
- Disseminate content through both online and offline communication channels.
- Participate in local events and organize imec-hosted events, in close collaboration with the HQ team.
- Develop and implement the local press strategy, in close collaboration with the HQ press team. Build local media relations, reach out of local media, respond to local media enquiries, identify the appropriate spokesperson, and organize press interviews.
- In collaboration with HQ, roll out internal communications initiatives to foster connection and engagement across the local team while strengthening ties with the global community.
Who you are
- You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications or equivalent.
- You have min. 10 years of experience in communications, ideally in an international tech environment.
- You have an extensive background in stakeholder communications and networking is in your DNA.
- You have excellent communication skills, both in writing and orally, in Spanish and English.
- You have excellent project management skills. Strong time management and organizational skills.
- You are hands-on and can manage strategy and execution in parallel.
- Demonstrated ability to manage social media channels strategically, from content planning to audience engagement.
- You are experienced in creating content for different audiences, purposes and formats, as well as in organizing events.
