Explore the use of generative AI for integrated optics

PhD - Leuven | Just now

Bridging the gap between AI and optics design for advanced application specific image sensors.

Imec has developed several spectral image sensors for a range of customers, which are now being used across diverse applications. Such projects often require a co-design approach involving both the optics to be integrated with the image sensors and the software working with the data from the sensor. With the rise of AI, we’ve observed significant improvements in correcting sensor imperfections and extracting meaningful insights from the sensor data. This introduces a new challenge for designers to match the optics design to the AI models. This PhD topic seeks to bridge that gap—not only by applying AI to the sensor data, but also by exploring how generative AI can influence and enhance design of the optical stacks.
