FEOL R&D Integration Engineer (PlatEff)
What you will do
- Technology Development activity (TD):
- Working on Front End of Line (FEOL) / Mid of Line (MOL) modules which are used in the N28 technology node. Knowledge of advanced nodes including finfet and gate all around (GAA) is a bonus.
- Technology Transfer activity:
- Strengthening the connection between R&D and the larger semiconductor industry. Utilizing the deep technical expertise of imec, engage in customer collaboration to setup established technology node processes at customer foundry sites,
- Process Integration and Optimization:
- Define and implement process splits in collaboration with characterization and process step engineers.
- Analyze interactions between FEOL modules and guide development based on electrical and characterization data.
- Design and execute development plans, including DOE setup, in-line characterization strategy, pilot line follow-up, and data analysis.
- Module Robustness & Scalability:
- Apply industry experience to test process windows and margins. Optimize module settings for compatibility and tolerance acceptance.
- Integrate industry-standard BKM practices to enhance performance and reliability across programs.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with imec’s advanced research device teams. Share updates and insights with peers, customers, and management.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly and confidently with external customers. Provide direct, concise responses and support technology transfer initiatives.
- Trips to the customer site are expected and may involve potentially extended time spent on-site to ensure seamless engagement and support.

Who you are
- Minimum Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant science based field.
- You have at least 3 years of industrial experience in process integration or development in a high-volume manufacturing Fab or in a corporate technology development Fab (please note that university lab, PhD or postdoc experience would not count in this case).
- You have direct experience in improving performance of N28 transistors and circuit.
- You have logic or memory-peri hands-on TD experience on N28 node, for FEOL patterning / concepts from Gate/Channel engg, epitaxial S/D, RMG, and Contacts.Direct experience on the N28 Planar CMOS transistor operation, ability to interpret electrical test data of N and P MOS transistors, SRAM etc.
- Understanding of process integration impact on electrical performance and end of line reliability.
- Capability to work at a brisk pace, manage time independently, balancing needs of multiple parallel activities.
- You like looking at data, drawing conclusions and proposing relevant follow up actions based on limited data set.
- Ability to draw conclusions from limited data, make suggestions on how to validate assumptions and conclusions.
- Good communication and interaction with the other groups within the department, as well as with other departments and Fab Operations, is a major requirement for this job.
- You have strong organizational skills and show the flexibility to change between different projects according to changing priorities.
- Given the international character of imec, excellent English verbal and written communication skills are required to be effective in this position.
- You either live in Belgium or are willing to relocate (support provided).
