A technical expert of TEM sample preparation and FIB or TEM inspections

At imec, we embrace the motto, ‘Embracing a better life,’ by driving innovations in nanoelectronics. Our cutting-edge chips power high-tech solutions that enhance healthcare, ensure safer transportation, foster sustainable energy, and more. Simply put, a better world starts with the technology we create in our cleanroom.

Join the Structural Analysis team within the Material Characterization and Analysis department at imec. We apply a wide range of specialized physical and chemical techniques to support the development of next-generation semiconductor devices. As a SEM/FIB/TEM Specialist, you’ll play a key role in characterizing our CMORE (MEMS, actuators, sensors) and Core (Logic, Memory, Interconnect, 3D) technologies.

What you will do

As a specialist, you will support the TEM service and help introduce new methodologies in the SEM and FIB domain. Your responsibilities include:

  • Setting up processes from R&D to pilot production in collaboration with researchers and process engineers.
  • Integrating machine learning and image analysis into SEM/FIB inspections and TEM sample prep.
  • Preparing TEM samples using FIB/SEM dual beam tools.
  • Executing and analysing TEM requests for new process developments.
  • Selecting appropriate TEM techniques and reporting results.
  • Ensuring high-quality, first-time-right execution.
  • Contributing to departmental targets: quality and on-time delivery.
  • Identifying risks and taking proactive action.
  • Continuously learning and proposing improvements to existing methods.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will define the society of tomorrow.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. We commit to supporting and guiding you in this process; not only with words but also with tangible actions. Through imec.academy, 'our corporate university', we actively invest in your development to further your technical and personal growth.

We are aware that your valuable contribution makes imec a top player in its field. Your energy and commitment are therefore appreciated by means of a market appropriate salary with many fringe benefits.
