ICT Operations Specialist

Computer and IT - Leuven | Just now

As imec continues to grow across multiple international locations — including an expanding and increasingly distributed Leuven campus — we are looking for an ICT operations specialist who will play a pivotal role in shaping, optimizing, and scaling our ICT operational processes.

ICT Operations Specialist

About the Role

In this role, you will help define how ICT support evolves in the growing Leuven site (HQ). You will drive improvements in core ICT support processes and in addition, you will take part of CSDM/CMDB configuration management and Software Asset Management (SAM) activities, ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with ICT service owners.
You combine a hands-on approach with strong process thinking, are comfortable working in a matrix environment, and can translate operational challenges into concrete, scalable solutions.

Your Responsibilities

Core ICT Operations

  • Support the design, optimization, and governance of ICT operational processes in close collaboration with the ICT-DEX team leads (eg incident & problem management, computer lifecycle management, an efficient support organization, management of ICT consumables, …)
  • Create and maintain process documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
  • Collaborate in a matrix organization with service owners, the workplace team, the helpdesk and on-site support teams and procurement. Support the ICT operations community by monitoring the processes, following up adherence and initiating corrective measures where needed to increase the level of quality of service delivery.

CSDM / CMDB configuration Management

  • Act as imec’s CMDB Configuration Manager, ensuring data quality, completeness, and consistency across the CMDB.
  • Maintain and evolve the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) to support service mapping and operational visibility.
  • Collaborate closely with ICT service owners to ensure accurate service definitions, relationships, and configuration item (CI) ownership.
  • Define and execute CMDB governance, audits, and improvement initiatives.

Software Asset Management (SAM)

  • Serve as Software Asset Manager for ICT, coordinating license governance and compliance across the unit.
  • Organize monitoring of software usage, entitlements, and renewals, ensuring optimal cost, compliance, and lifecycle hygiene.
  • Work with procurement, finance, and service owners to manage software portfolios and anticipate licensing needs.
  • Support audits, reporting, and continuous improvement of SAM processes and tooling.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. We commit to supporting and guiding you in this process; not only with words but also with tangible actions. Your profile

  • Knowledge of ITIL, with a good understanding of service management processes (certification is a plus).
  • Comfortable navigating a dynamic matrix environment with many stakeholders.
  • Clear communicator able to translate complexity into actionable steps.
