Test and characterisation of imec's hyperspectral sensors that are used for cutting-edge medical, industrial and space applications.

Introduction & context

To support the grow of our optoelectronic activities, imec (3500+ employees, 600MEuros revenues in 2018, top-world renowned global R&D commercial research nanotechnology organization) is opening one internship position of "Hyperspectral imaging sensor Test & Calibration Engineer" within our integrated imaging & vision solutions technical team unit.
As part of this team, you will be responsible for defining, setting up and executing different types of test protocols. Hyperspectral imaging sensors need to be inspected, calibrated, with any possible defects and opto/electrical performance analyzed before final integration into spectral vision subsystems commercialized by imec or its growing number of customers in the field of medical, aerospace, drone, agriculture and security surveillance markets.

Your main responsibilities

  • Definition of test setups and test improvements
  • Execution of the test protocol
  • Analysis of defect types and labelling according to well-defined quality criteria
  • Perform the design of experiment, to test and validate the calibration setups
  • Reporting the experiments, applying good documentation practices

Competences expected

  • Problem solving mindset, goal oriented
  • Team player with excellent communication skills and fluent in English
  • Matlab is a must. Experience with Python and SolidWorks or similar is a plus

Required degree: Master of Engineering Technology; Master of Science; Master of Engineering Science

Required background: Electromechanical engineering; Electrotechnics/Electrical Engineering; Nanoscience & Nanotechnology; Physics
