About the Role 

As an Overlay R&D Engineer, you will play a key role in developing advanced metrology solutions to tackle scaling roadmap challenges in semiconductor manufacturing. You will be part of the advanced metrology and inspection group within the angstrom patterning department, working at the forefront of innovation to enable next-generation technologies. 

What you will do

You will: 

  • Be part of the Advanced Metrology and Inspection group, working in close collaboration with advanced lithography and bonding teams to tackle overlay challenges. 
  • Drive advanced overlay metrology from gap identification to solution mapping and implementation. 
  • Contribute to the metrology roadmap for tool and R&D project portfolio. 
  • Work in close collaboration with tool suppliers as work package owner of joint development programs. 
  • Assess and jointly develop advanced tool capabilities with the supplier. 
  • Investigate the limits of the techniques you work with through fundamental understanding by literature search, simulations, physical modeling etc... 
  • Eventually run external demos and propose innovative solutions when existing techniques do not solve identified gaps.
  • Report your work internally and externally (project reviews, workshops, conferences or journal papers).

Who you are

  • You hold a PhD in Applied Sciences, Material Engineering or Electronics.  
  • You have hands-on experience in overlay metrology within a high-tech cleanroom environment. 
  • You are proactive, positive, and hands-on, with a strong willingness to learn. 
  • You excel at working in complex environments involving multiple partners and customers. 
  • You demonstrate flexibility and resilience when facing change or ambiguity. 
  • You are detail-oriented and work with high accuracy. 
  • You possess excellent communication skills in English. 
  • You are confident in delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
