The Portfolio Director – Quantum is responsible for shaping, managing, and executing imec’s quantum computing and quantum‑enabling technology portfolio. The role aligns strategic partner needs with imec’s technical roadmap, drives business and ecosystem development, ensures effective portfolio execution, and supports imec’s long‑term leadership in quantum technologies.

What you will do

Key Responsibilities: 
 
1. Strategic Leadership & Vision 

  • Lead the strategic direction of imec’s Quantum Compute portfolio. 
  • Define and maintain the long‑term (3-5 year) strategy and value proposition for the quantum portfolio. 
  • Align portfolio strategy with sector priorities, customer needs, and imec‑wide objectives. 

2. Portfolio & Investment Management 

  • Oversee portfolio of quantum‑related programs including Quantum BILA related to qbit devices, cryogenic CMOS, and cryogenic interposer. 
  • Translate market trends and structured Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback into differentiated offerings and business models. 
  • Manage execution of investment cases, including technical milestones and value creation tracking. 
  • Maintain portfolio-level oversight of project KPIs, risks, interdependencies, and resource allocation. 

3. Ecosystem & Partner Engagement 

  • Act as imec’s interface to quantum ecosystem stakeholders: universities, start‑ups, industry partners, and government programs. 
  • Build relationships with strategic partners to valorize imec’s quantum R&D capabilities. 

4. Business Development & Offering Definition 

  • Work closely with BD, Program Directors, Portfolio Office, and Technology teams to define offerings. 
  • Support GTM strategy formation for quantum programs. 

5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Leadership 

  • Act as a central node between technical teams, BD, sector strategy, and corporate stakeholders. 
  • Act as sector‑lead delegate on business‑related topics tied to the portfolio. 
  • Provide communication and reporting to imec leadership.

Who you are

  • PhD or Master’s with experience in quantum computing, device physics, cryogenic electronics, or adjacent fields. 
  • Experience bridging technical expertise and partner engagement. 
  • Proven ability to lead complex R&D portfolios.
