Presentation and Visual Storytelling Specialist 

About the role 

We are looking for a Presentation and Visual Storytelling Specialist to join imec’s communications team. In this role, you will develop executive presentations, infographics, and data visualizations, converting complex technical and organizational information into compelling narratives and visually engaging materials.

What you will do

  • Develop and design high-quality corporate slide decks and presentations for senior leadership, ensuring clarity, coherence, and visual impact. 
  • Support imec presenters with their presentations at imec’s annual flagship event ITF World. 
  • Interpret and distil complex technical or organizational information, presenting it as compelling visual stories that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Collaborate closely with an internal storyteller, blending narrative expertise with design skills to craft presentations that are both informative and memorable. 
  • Act as a graphical journalist within the news and science communications teams, ensuring that complex scientific concepts are communicated visually in a clear and accurate manner. 
  • Create clear, creative infographics and data visualizations for presentations, press releases, marketing content, and other communication materials. 
  • Develop and maintain a catalogue of presentations. 
  • Update, and adapt slide decks for various events, audiences, and communication channels, maintaining consistency and high standards. 

Team and Collaboration 

The Presentation and Visual Storytelling Specialist will work as part of imec’s news and science communications team, collaborating with other storytellers, designers, subject matter experts, and marketing and corporate communications staff. This position involves working closely with executives and communication professionals to ensure that messaging and visual strategies are aligned throughout the organization.

What you bring 

  • Graphic Design Expertise: Proficiency in leading design tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma) with a strong portfolio of presentation and infographic work. 
  • Data Visualization: Ability to present data and research findings in innovative, accessible, and accurate visual formats. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently across disciplines and with senior stakeholders. 
  • Storytelling Ability: The skill to craft visual stories that engage and inform. 
  • Technical Understanding: Demonstrated capacity to grasp and work with complex scientific, technological, or organizational information. 
  • Fluent in English and Dutch 
  • Attention to detail: Rigorous approach to accuracy, consistency, and quality in all design outputs. 
  • Creativity: A creative thinker, able to find fresh and effective ways to present information visually. 
  • Audience Awareness: Sensitivity to the needs and expectations of different audiences, tailoring messages and visuals accordingly. 
  • Structured Work Approach: Strong organizational skills and a methodical approach to managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. 
  • Collaboration and Feedback: Willingness to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders, remaining open to constructive feedback and new ideas. 
  • Deadline Orientation: Proven ability to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines, maintaining composure and professionalism under pressure.
