Quality Control of Surface Coatings in Microfluidic Channels

Master internship - Leuven | Just now

Develop a technique for contact angle determination in channels!

The contact angle is a key parameter to assess the quality of self-assembled monolayer coatings (SAMs). On open surfaces, it can easily be measured, but it is not directly accessible in closed microfluidic channels. However, a variety of applications rely on defined and homogeneous SAM coatings. Therefore, the goal of this internship is to develop a technique to determine the contact angle in channels, using a fluid flow, with a contact angle profile as a result. After optimization, the coatings will be used to attach biomolecules, such as antibodies and DNA oligomers, with a high relevance in biosensor development and cell sorting.
