New RF Team in Florida for NSF Engines

RF Measurement Expert

What will you do:

Next generation communication and radar systems will operate at frequencies beyond 100 GHz. At such high frequencies, traditional interconnect solutions based on PCBs incur excessively high loss and leakage of signal. Furthermore, larger antenna arrays are needed to overcome higher path loss, low amplification, and low absolute power from transistors. Heterogeneous integration of different transistor technologies and passive components is essential to meet link budget and high data rate requirements at these frequencies.

Imec USA is looking for an RF Measurement expert with experience in on-wafer measurement, over-the-air antenna measurements, RF calibration software, and knowledge of RF measurement procedures (TRL calibration, Power calibration, Noise measurement etc.). You would be responsible for test fixtures, PCBs and components needed for building advanced demonstrators as well as the measurement setup needed to characterize them. Additional responsibility would be day to day running of the RF lab. You will be integrated into imec’s Advanced RF cross-site team across Kissimmee, Florida and Leuven, Belgium and work together with other experts from hetero-integration, circuit design and technology development teams. Literature survey and keeping an up-to-date list of recent (academic and industry) developments in this field will be an additional task.

Your tasks will include:

·       Maintaining and developing expertise of on-wafer mm-wave measurements: Instrument automation, Calibration procedures for S-parameter, Power, and Noise

·       Maintaining and developing expertise of over-the-air (OTA) mm-wave measurements: OTA setup automation, Radiated Power, Gain and Pattern measurements

·       Work with circuit and package designers to facilitate different measurements

·       Overall responsible for RF Lab and liaise with instrument suppliers to maintain up to date setups needed for measurements

·       You will be based in Kissimmee, Florida but open to travel to Leuven, Belgium for technical discussions, training and brainstorming

About you:

·       Strong Background in instrumentation and measurements of mm-wave systems

·       Knowledge of mm-wave circuits: Measurement procedures for characterization of S-parameters, Power and Noise

·       Knowledge of antennas: Measurement procedures for characterization of Radiated Power, Antenna Gain and Radiation Pattern

·       Experience with building test setups to facilitate measurements and managing and running of a RF lab

·       Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant job experience

·       Very good English language skills (written and spoken)
