What you will do

The Connected Computing business team is tasked with developing business and nurturing relationships with imec's esteemed clients interested in connectivity and computing technologies. This team engages with global customers, offering comprehensive insights into imec’s cutting-edge technologies to enable R&D collaborations and establish strategic alliances. To sustain our growth trajectory, we are seeking a Senior Strategic Partnership Manager Europe.  
 
Within the imec organization, the EU strategic development focuses on large, multinational corporations (F1000-F5000), aiming to drive innovative semiconductor capabilities across various business sectors. Additionally, we foster relationships within the deep tech start-up and scale-up EU community.  
 
Future societal and macroeconomic advancements are increasingly relying on deep tech innovation, nanotechnology, and AI capabilities powered by breakthroughs in semiconductor technology such as: optical interconnects, Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), quantum communications, system scaling, high performance computing, superconducting design, alternative computing, advanced RF for 5G/6G, edge AI, low power wireless including UWB/BLE among many other imec R&D & LVM innovations. In this context, imec seeks to bolster its global leadership and enhance its presence in Europe by adding a high-calibre team member.  
 
As a Senior Strategic Partnership Manager Europe, you will be an integral part of imec's Connected Computing business team, responsible for expanding strategic relationships with both new & existing clients, with a focus on growing our business for imec’s Connected Computing Sector. 
To succeed in this role, you will:  
 
Drive business activities:  
 
  • Client business strategy, go-to-market and lead generation: 
  • Translate technology R&D roadmaps into client business strategy and go-to-market plans. The focus will be on innovation for connected computing sector. 
  • Gain access to and understand partner roadmaps to develop client engagements towards a mutual understanding of strategic partnering. Engage at various levels and with multiple stakeholders within current or prospective clients to translate this strategic understanding into qualified opportunities. Support the technical and business buy-in from a Key Account Management perspective. 
  • Promote imec’s technological advancements at industry conferences. Participate in networking groups and attend events.  
Steer the opportunity validation and ensure closing:  
  • Lead workshops to identify opportunities and refine USPs, guiding clients through imec's sales cycle with various imec stakeholders (R&D, Portfolio Managers, Program Office, … ). 
  • Perform business and sales focused activities, focusing on identify key target customers and key stakeholders at relevant companies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to client management, supporting business negotiations and deal closure alongside imec teams, especially IP and legal. 
  • Collaborate with R&D and PMO teams to establish and follow up on annual projects, ensuring effective client engagement and potential follow-on projects.  
Build the client intimacy:  
 
  • Build and strengthen client relationships by fostering client engagements to expand imec's presence through up selling and cross selling, leading to multi-year agreements. 
  • Conduct strategic account reviews with internal and client management to create long-term key account plans. Identify partnership and revenue growth opportunities within the imec portfolio and present recommendations. 
  • Maintain strong alignment between client and imec senior management. Establish proper governance for R&D and business steering.

Who you are

  • A master’s degree in technology, engineering, or related fields, along with strong business acumen and a passion for technology innovation, is required. A PhD is not necessary for this position. 
  • Demonstrated leadership in deep tech innovation in connectivity or computing industries is highly valued. Experience in semiconductor R&D is an advantage. 
  • You have over 15 years of experience in sales, business development and/or product development, with a strong interest in driving strategic partnership development. 
  • You are comfortable with multi-level, multi-stakeholder client interactions and enjoy developing and nurturing client relationships. 
  • Familiarity with the Miller Heimann methodology and tools is beneficial. 
  • You genuinely enjoy building client interactions, with a focus on driving impact through customer engagement, long-term relationships, technology leadership, and revenue growth. 
  • You have a thorough understanding of multi-stakeholder engagements within larger companies to drive client partnerships. 
  • Ideally, you possess an established network that includes contacts with large companies across Europe. 
  • A network in the semiconductor industry and an understanding of various market dynamics and cultures across Europe would be advantageous. 
  • You can think strategically to enhance customer engagement and negotiate at senior levels. 
  • You have outstanding presentation, written and verbal communication, engagement and interpersonal skills.
  • English proficiency is required; Knowledge of multiple languages (particularly French and/or German) is a plus.
  • Location: Leuven, Belgium. Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
