Simulation Framework Development for Next-Gen Memory Systems

Master internship, Bachelor internship, PhD internship - Leuven | Just now

Advance tomorrow’s architectures through cutting‑edge memory and system simulation.
This internship offers a hands‑on opportunity to work with advanced memory and system‑level simulators used in cutting‑edge computer architecture research. Students will contribute to developing and enhancing simulation frameworks that help analyze DRAM behavior, system performance, and workload characteristics before hardware becomes available. Typical activities include integrating modern DRAM simulators (e.g., Ramulator, DRAMsim3, DRAMsys), preparing full‑system simulation environments (e.g., SST, gem5), and designing configurable or noisy traffic patterns to model realistic application behavior. The role combines software development, architectural analysis, and experimentation, making it ideal for students with strong programming skills and an interest in low‑level systems. By the end of the internship, students will gain deep exposure to simulation methodologies, performance evaluation techniques, and research‑grade tooling used in architecture exploration.
