Statement: accident at imec

UPDATE Imec discloses the following additional information regarding the accident that happened today at the imec premises.

Imec, Leuven, Belgium - Monday November 5, 2018 – UPDATE – Imec discloses the following additional information regarding the accident that happened today at the imec premises.

The accident happened today around noon during the transportation of a forklift into the cleanroom. To our deepest regret one of the employees of the company ASK Romein, who carried out the works, lost his life. The accident happened when the forklift fell from a platform during transportation into the cleanroom. The accident is now under investigation by the authorities to which imec offers its full cooperation.

Trauma support was provided for the colleagues.

Imec, Leuven, Belgium - Monday November 5, 2018 - Today, a fatal accident happened with a forklift at the imec cleanroom. First and foremost, our sincere condolences go out to the victim and his family, friends and colleagues. We are shocked by this accident of which the cause is still unclear and will continue to communicate as soon as we have more information.
