Experimental validation of a next-generation on-chip cell sorter with integrated optics

Master projects/internships - Leuven | Just now

Join us at the frontier of lab-on-chip engineering, where light meets cell manipulation!

Imec is a world-leading research centre in semiconductor technology with top-notch microfabrication facilities. Within an interdisciplinary team, we investigate biomedical applications using miniaturized silicon-based devices. One such innovation is our on-chip cell sorting technology, designed for high-throughput, gentle, and efficient cell manipulation.

During this internship, you will experimentally validate the performance of imec’s newest generation cell sorter, a fully integrated device featuring on-chip optics for real-time detection and enhanced fluidic designs for higher sorting efficiency and throughput. As one of the first of its kind in this field, this integrated platform marks a groundbreaking step toward chip-based biomedical diagnostics. Evaluating its performance from scratch will therefore be a significant contribution to the field and a unique opportunity for the intern to take part in shaping a pioneering platform with real scientific impact.
